Today My Name is...Excited!

Skipped a day...bah I am bad. Tisk on me. Going forward updates should be more frequent. Or I hope anyways. Busy days ahead will not prevent me from updating even if it's only brief!

Yesterday was a great day, I am feeling better and better. I spent much of the day outdoors in wonderful 18+ Calgary weather. Fantastic for a spring day. Long walk on the ridge. I put on a crockpot roast for my family which we all enjoyed. I saw someone use a can of Coca-Cola pop in with a roast in their crockpot and figuring why not use the last bit of my husband's 2L bottle, my roast and give this interesting recipe a try. It turned out so incredibly tender and served my hubbies roasted carrots and a salad on the side. NOM!

After that it was prep time, focus on my family so that I can focus on me. :) Great trade. So we got my oldest daughter some orange clothing to wear this weekend as she plays on the Orange team for the RAB challenge and the girls were all asked in team spirit to sport the color off ice too. With no orange clothes in the house we had no choice and it made for a fun evening. Additionally my youngest found super fun neon yellow shoes that closely resemble the Keds I remember wearing as a kid. She also found a very cool white shirt with neon pink and a steal of a deal on the coolest looking faux leather jacket. My girls are growing up. Everything now is hair, make-up and fashion. I am glad they include me.

Today started off with cooler weather and a dusting of snow which amounted to a massive accident on Deerfoot Trail (two Semi's, one man dead) and slow traffic for all commuting. Glad I don't have to leave the comfort of home. It wasn't long before the snow was gone and warmer weather prevailed and so again I was off and out the door for a walk...where else? The ridge. Every day it never fails to impress me, there's always new things to see. Today it was deer grazing across the river in Fish Creek Park. I sat for a good amount of time on a bench over looking the view and closed my eyes just listening and taking everything in. The air was so fresh, the seagulls and many other birds and geese were all vocal. Nature is so stunning, I wish I lived in the mountains or closer to nature.

When we first moved into our area our home backed onto the end of Deerfoot Trail and on the other side was nothing but farmers fields and land. It wasn't long before it buildings and homes were built and now Calgary extends much further. We've been in this neighborhood for 11 years and this end of the city has grow just as fast as my daughters. It's really sad. SE Calgary is literally creeping out to Okotoks. At present Dewinton is a stones through.

I am so glad that our community still backs onto green space and the river. It's my favorite place to go. I wouldn't want to live on the ridge with all the bugs swarming the houses (I know because my parents live on the ridge), additionally as the ridge is falling away leaving concern for the homes as they stand. I'm just a short 5 minute walk away.

So tomorrow I will start my April challenge. I am only a few days into April and so excited about seeing what sort of transformation is ahead, health and physically. My motivation, determination and excitement is all solidly in place. I can't help but chuckle at myself though for being excited about being up just before 5am to make the short jaunt for 5:15am yoga but I am. If I can do this, I can do anything!!

My oldest is a little bummed that she is left out. She enjoys yoga. That hour is too early for her and teenagers need their sleep. She has a lot going on this month herself so it won't be like she's living a sedentary month. Ringette and Lacrosse will both fill it up. Ringette all this weekend starting tomorrow evening and ending Sunday. On ice and off ice and goalie specific training. Come Sunday afternoon she will be exhausted!! The week after it's Lacrosse with the possibility of being a very busy season if she ends up playing for both the Bantam and Midget girls teams. So perhaps when she is able I will bring her to Sunday Yoga.

My youngest isn't as keen about yoga. That said she has never done it. She is our little horseback riding girl. My girls love sports and activities I used to play and not from being pushed either. Both decided on their own what they enjoy. If it were my choice my oldest would be a defense in ringette and my youngest would still play ringette, instead she does dance and horse lessons. This Sunday if the yoga and ringette times do not overlap I may take my youngest to yoga as some of her dance friends are going. We'll see if she forms a change of opinion.

Back to the challenge I am excited. I am sure there will be lots to report tomorrow. Hopefully I do have energy the whole day so I don't start fizzling out in the afternoon. I have to be able to stay up until at least 10pm when I get home from my youngest daughters riding lessons.

I will post a picture of myself tomorrow as my pre-challenge self. When I complete the month I will do the same. If this is a challenge I love and it greatly benefits me over all I may carry on with it. I think that's reasonable...5:15am yoga for an hour each day...I can still fit in a new monthly challenge on top of it for May! We'll take the first step tomorrow and develop a change of lifestyle and routine. I will also post my weight...eeek...I dread this but it's about accountability and a challenge to see if yoga helps and how so. I eat well, I don't drink much in terms of alcohol so we will see if yoga helps to tone, trim, lose a few pounds and help my arm, neck and jaw....I have faith.

Today I Am...Excited!
